Former Santa Cruz County Supervisor Mark Stone Takes Oath as New Assemblymember for 29th Assembly District

For immediate release:

(SACRAMENTO)—Mark Stone (D-Santa Cruz), a former Santa Cruz Couny Supervisor, California Coastal Commissioner and a previous president of the Scotts Valley Unified School District, was sworn in today as the Assemblymember for the 29th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Monterey, Marina, Pacific Grove, Sand City, Seaside, Capitola, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley and a portion of San Jose. The ceremony was held on the Assembly Floor at the State Capitol at noon.

Stone plans to continue as an assemblymember working on the same issues he did as a county supervisor: supporting our children and their families, the environment, healthcare and the economy.

“I have devoted my public service to the health and safety of our overall community and to the protection of our environment,” said Stone. “I’m also deeply committed to making sure that our public schools receive the resources necessary so that our students can be successful in the workforce and in life.”

Assemblymember Stone was accompanied by his wife, Kathy, for the swearing-in. The oath of office was administered by The Honorable, Mary Lou Villar de Longoria, Judge, Los Angeles Superior Court.
