Speaker Designate Robert Rivas Comments on the Governor’s January Budget Proposal

Sacramento, CA—On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, Speaker Designate Robert Rivas (D-Salinas) released the following statement regarding the Governor’s proposed 2023-2024 budget:

“Today’s budget proposal is a strong starting point towards maintaining the state’s promise to defend and grow the California Dream. Despite a projected budget shortfall, past fiscal prudence has positioned us to continue the significant progress we have made in recent years on our state’s biggest challenges, including the cost of living, homelessness, and the ongoing climate crisis.

I am excited to work with the Governor and my colleagues in the Legislature to continue to develop an equitable, forward-looking budget. I am confident that we will do so.”
