Assembly Judiciary Hearing on Workers’ Rights and Religious Employers

Tuesday, August 18, 2015

(San Francisco) – Assemblymember Mark Stone, D-Monterey Bay, Chair of the Assembly Judiciary Committee, convened a special hearing of the Committee to discuss workers' rights and religious employers at the Milton Marks Auditorium in San Francisco. Assemblymember Stone says the informational hearing was needed after a U.S. Supreme Court decision gave religious employers wide latitude in how they treat their workers. The subject of “ministerial exceptions” has been a central issue with teachers at four Bay Area high schools administered by the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Here’s more from Assemblymember Stone and others who spoke at the hearing in this Assembly Access video.
